A bed that will not pass through a doorway and a fitted wardrobe attached to a wall are not the same dismantling job. The useful question is not just “how much per item?” It is whether the item can be taken apart, protected and made usable again at its destination.
This guide concerns existing beds and wardrobes before moving, room changes or storage. For newly delivered flat-pack boxes, see the furniture assembly guide. If you already booked a moving company, check its written inclusions before buying a duplicate service.
Can I book dismantling without booking a truck?
Yes: LoadUp advertises assembly and disassembly without a whole move, and Oxford Star Movers describes suitable standalone as well as relocation work. That establishes availability in Dubai, not that every mover will accept every item or that transport is included.
Typical enquiry situations include moving a bed between rooms, preparing a wardrobe for another carrier, or dismantling before short-term furniture storage. If someone else transports or stores the components, decide who is responsible for packaging, condition records and the handover inventory at each stage.
What furniture are you actually asking them to dismantle?
Assessment boundaries for beds and wardrobes
| Item | Information to send | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Conventional bed frame | Model, frame size, headboard, slat/base arrangement and existing damage. | Mattress handling, wrapping and reassembly are all included. |
| Storage, lift-up or powered bed | Exact model and manufacturer instructions; mechanism and electrical details. | It can be treated like a plain frame or safely dismantled by any general mover. |
| Freestanding modular wardrobe | Overall size, number of frames, doors, drawers, mirrors and wall restraints. | A price for one small cabinet covers an entire fitted-looking run. |
| Built-in or site-made wardrobe | Photos of wall/ceiling junctions and confirmation of whether reuse is intended. | It is portable furniture, will fit the next room or can be removed without making good. |
Do not detach wall restraints, pull out heavy mirrored doors or release a lift mechanism yourself to prepare for a visit. Keep children and pets away from partly dismantled furniture. The contractor should use the relevant manufacturer procedure and assess damage, fixings and the safe working space.
Ask for the complete job, not only the first visit
There is no useful universal “wardrobe dismantling price” without the number of frames, door type, condition and follow-on scope. Star Edge’s published policy, for example, distinguishes work included in its moves from separately quoted standalone installation. A quote from another provider may be structured differently.
Request a fixed written scope after photographs or a survey where needed. The price should identify dismantling, protective materials, internal carrying, transport, storage and reassembly separately or clearly list them inside one package. Ask about minimum visit charges, a second address, waiting time, missing fittings and return visits. The cheapest dismantling subtotal may leave most of the work unpriced.

The hardware handover matters as much as the panels
Agree that components will be identified to their original item and that fittings will be bagged and kept with a recorded inventory. This is particularly important if reassembly happens weeks later or a different crew takes over. Photographs before dismantling help record the original configuration and visible defects, but they are not a warranty that the item will survive every move.
Keep the product model and any assembly instructions. Ask who will obtain a missing or damaged fitting and approve the replacement before work continues. A bag labelled only “wardrobe screws” is not a useful handover when several similar wardrobes are travelling together. Confirm how mirrors, glass and finished edges will be protected, rather than supplying improvised packaging yourself.
Do not discard unfamiliar components because the furniture appears to stand without them. Bracing, restraints and manufacturer-specified parts have a purpose. Reassembly should include the relevant safety fixings and checks, not just doors that appear straight.
Plan the destination before dismantling the furniture
Provide the destination room and access route if known. A wardrobe might fit the room’s floor plan but not have the clearance needed to assemble or open its doors. Ask the installer to check ceiling height, skirting, sockets and the wall construction where restraints are required. For a built-in wardrobe, require a separate assessment of whether relocation is practical at all.
Ask building or community management about contractor entry, permitted hours, lift/loading bookings and any work approval relevant to the actual scope. If removing landlord-owned fitted furniture or altering a wall, obtain the appropriate consent first. Wall-hole repair and repainting at the old property should be explicitly included or assigned to another trade.
For storage, agree how parts and hardware remain identifiable and protected, where the inventory will be kept and whether a later reassembly visit is already priced. Do not confuse a storage fee with cover for repair, replacement or damage; ask for the provider’s written terms.
Use this comparison checklist
Keep every stage visible in the written offer
| Stage | Confirm before booking |
|---|---|
| Assessment | Exact item/model, quantity, existing condition and whether reuse is feasible. |
| Dismantling | Doors, drawers, mirrors and mechanisms included; responsible technician and work area. |
| Protection and handover | Panels, glass, wrapping, hardware inventory, internal carrying and named receiving party. |
| Destination work | Reassembly date/address, missing-parts process, levelling, adjustments and required wall securing. |
| Charges and exclusions | Complete AED total, VAT treatment, transport/storage, visits, waiting, repairs and making good. |
Mark anything unquoted as unknown, not zero. Compare offers only once they include the same stages. No generic moving-cost calculator can establish whether a particular old wardrobe will tolerate dismantling; the item assessment remains essential.
What to send with your enquiry
Send a full photo of each item, its model or product label if available, approximate dimensions and close-ups of visible damage. State the current and intended location, dates, whether another company handles transport, and whether reassembly is required. Use the furniture dismantling service and identify beds and wardrobes explicitly.
Compare Furniture Dismantling Quotes. Confirm the written scope, price and availability before booking.
Frequently asked questions
Can I book dismantling only, with no moving truck?
Yes, some Dubai providers advertise standalone work. Specify whether the furniture remains in the room, moves within the property or will be collected by another carrier.
Does dismantling include putting the furniture together again?
Not automatically. State the destination, date and required reassembly scope, and ask for it as a separate line or an explicit package inclusion.
Can a built-in wardrobe be moved like a freestanding one?
Do not assume so. It may be site-made or fixed into the room, and removal can affect adjoining finishes. Have the provider assess reuse and making-good work before dismantling.
What if fittings are missing or a panel is already damaged?
Record the issue at the assessment. Agree whether replacements are obtainable, who supplies them and whether work pauses pending approval. An assembly appointment is not automatically a repair package.
What should I check after reassembly?
Ask the installer to confirm the relevant manufacturer steps, required restraints, alignment and agreed function checks. Record unresolved parts or damage before sign-off; do not use visibly unstable furniture.
