A move-in unpacking service starts where delivery ends: opening the agreed boxes, putting belongings into usable places and leaving priority rooms ready for everyday life. It is not automatically included in a mover's quote. In Dubai, compare the rooms, contents, team size, session length and finish line—not simply a price “per day”.
For example, unpacking kitchen boxes onto a counter is different from arranging cupboards so you can prepare breakfast. Ask each provider to price the same outcome, with storage products and packaging removal listed separately. You can send one brief through Bestimate's move-in unpacking service to compare written responses.
What does move-in unpacking include?
| Stage | Useful written deliverable | Confirm separately |
|---|---|---|
| Open and sort | Agreed boxes opened and contents grouped by destination | Fragile items, damage reporting and boxes that must stay sealed |
| Put away | Belongings placed inside existing cupboards, drawers and shelves | Detailed folding, labels, inventory and new storage purchases |
| Make rooms usable | Named priorities completed, with remaining boxes identified | Bed making, appliance connection, assembly and wall mounting |
| Clear packaging | Empty cardboard and wrapping consolidated in an agreed place | Removal from the building, recycling arrangements and collection fee |
Compare unpacking after your belongings arrive, with staff time, storage products and packaging collection separated.
Open the full move-in unpacking quote comparison. Use written prices: unknown essentials remain unresolved and a comparable difference appears only after both scopes are confirmed.
Compare the unpacking quotes you actually receive
Use the comparison tool with a provider's confirmed session amount or hourly basis. Record whether an hourly rate is per organizer or for the whole team. Two people working three hours provide six person-hours but spend three elapsed hours in the home; do not multiply a team rate by two again.
Enter the agreed minimum booking and approved extras, including storage products, shopping time, parking and packaging collection. A package must specify what happens if priority rooms remain unfinished. The calculator compares quoted amounts; it cannot predict how many boxes an organizer will finish, and unknown costs must not be entered as zero. Confirm VAT treatment line by line and avoid charging twice for an inclusion already in the package.
How much does unpacking cost in Dubai?
The public provider pages reviewed on 17 October 2026 do not support one defensible citywide price per box or bedroom. TidyNest lists relocation work as price on demand. Luna in Order advertises unpacking and home setup, with a complimentary consultation. Neatly advertises a one-hour home consultation at AED 395 plus VAT before its project proposal. That consultation fee is not an unpacking labour price.
These are named-provider examples of how work is quoted, not Bestimate prices or endorsements. Ask whether an assessment is paid, whether it is credited later, and which dates and staffing the proposal covers. A flat-rate offer can be useful if the boundary is clear; an hourly offer can be useful if priorities and a spending limit are agreed. Neither proves that the whole home will be finished.
Book after the home is ready, not just after the van arrives
Coordinate unpacking with confirmed delivery and access. Cupboards should be accessible, major furniture should be in its final place, and any necessary cleaning or installation should be complete before belongings fill the space. If a shipment is delayed, ask how rescheduling or waiting time is charged before reserving the team.
For a Dubai apartment, check the building's contractor-access procedure, visitor parking and any lift booking needed for packaging collection. For a villa, tell the organizer about floors, stairs and where boxes have been delivered. These are property-specific checks, not a claim that every building requires the same permit.
Use the Dubai move-in home-services checklist for utilities, cleaning and maintenance scheduling. If the empty home still needs cleaning, the move-in cleaning guide covers that separate scope. Avoid paying an unpacking team to wait while cupboards are still being repaired.

Set a first-night finish line
A room count alone is a weak brief. Give the team an order of priorities and a specific stopping point for each zone. This makes a short booking useful even when the entire move cannot be completed in one visit.
- Sleeping: the agreed bedding and next-day clothes are accessible; wardrobes not included in the booking stay clearly identified.
- Bathroom: daily toiletries and towels are placed; medicines and private items remain under the household's control.
- Kitchen: frequently used cookware, plates and essentials have agreed destinations. Preserve food labels and allergy information rather than transferring everything into unmarked containers.
- School or work: daily bags, equipment and chargers can be found without opening unrelated boxes.
- Remaining inventory: unopened boxes are grouped by room with a short list of unfinished tasks.
Keep important documents, jewellery, keys and personal electronics with you unless handling is explicitly agreed. Flag fragile or valuable pieces in advance and ask how damage discovered while unpacking will be recorded. Do not discard packaging that you need for a return or an unresolved damage claim until you have checked the relevant terms.
Unpacking is not the same as a complete organization project
Simple put-away uses existing storage and decisions already made. An organization project may also involve editing belongings, measuring products, planning categories and revisiting the layout after the family has used it. Neatly describes relocation setup and interior organization as service scopes, with organizing products quoted separately. Ask which activities and purchases your proposal actually includes.
Do not buy matching boxes before you know the cupboard dimensions and retained inventory. Start with suitable products you already own, then approve a measured shopping list and cap. Clarify purchase handling, receipts, returns and whether shopping time uses the booked hours. For a later detailed kitchen reset, see the kitchen and pantry organization guide; it should not silently become an extra on delivery day.
A short brief that gets more comparable responses
Send the home type, floors, approximate box count by room, confirmed delivery window, priority zones and whether belongings have already been decluttered. State which furniture and cupboards will be ready, what storage you want reused, and whether you need actual packaging collection rather than bagging it indoors. Request the number of organizers, rate basis, minimum hours, overtime approval and cancellation terms.
Photos help show volume and access, but crop or blur addresses, unit numbers, names, phone numbers, delivery labels, barcodes, documents and unrelated faces. Give entry instructions privately, not in an image. Ask for separate permission before any provider publishes before-and-after photographs of your home.

Frequently asked questions
Will my movers unpack everything?
Only if their written scope says so. Removing protective wrapping or placing boxes in rooms is not the same as arranging every cupboard. Ask exactly where the mover's work stops before booking a separate organizer.
Can I book unpacking for only the kitchen and bedrooms?
Yes, if the provider accepts that scope. Name the priority cupboards and belongings, not just the rooms, and confirm the minimum booking. Agree where unprocessed boxes will remain.
How long will unpacking take?
Box contents, storage readiness, the level of organization and decision-making all matter. Ask the provider to assess your inventory and give a scoped plan. A fixed boxes-per-hour promise is not a reliable completion estimate for mixed household belongings.
Does the service include removing cardboard?
Not necessarily. Flattening boxes, taking them to the building's approved collection point and transporting them off-site are different tasks. Confirm the route and price, keeping any packaging needed for returns or claims.
Do I have to stay home throughout?
Agree this with the provider. Someone should be available for access, placement decisions and the handover. Written instructions can cover routine put-away, but donation, disposal and private items should not be guessed.
