Pet sitting at home in Dubai means a sitter visits or stays in your home while your pet remains there. The important choice is not simply “day or night”: it is how much of your absence is actually covered. A 30-minute visit, an overnight stay and continuous care are different arrangements.
Published local examples include TEEF’s AED 50 30-minute sitting session and Paw Pals’ AED 315 overnight stay from 8pm to 7am. These are different providers and scopes—not the low and high ends of one comparable service. Build a dated care schedule first, then ask for a total covering that exact schedule.
Quick answer: choose the care pattern, not just a nightly price
- Drop-in visits: the sitter arrives for agreed tasks and then leaves. Discuss the gaps between visits.
- Overnight care: the sitter sleeps in your home during specified hours. It does not automatically include daytime attendance.
- Continuous or extended care: ask explicitly about presence, permitted breaks, cover and suitability; do not infer this from “live-in”.
- Boarding: your pet stays elsewhere. Even “home boarding” can mean the sitter’s house, not yours.
Compare in-home pet sitting for scheduled visits and overnight pet sitting for a stay in your home. Tell providers the animal’s species, age, routine, care needs and your departure and return times before choosing either.
Drop-in, overnight and boarding: the differences that matter
Match the service to the time you need covered
| Arrangement | Where the pet stays | What to clarify before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Drop-in visits | Your home | Arrival windows, visit duration, feeding/litter/walk tasks and time left alone between visits |
| Overnight stay | Your home | Exact start/end time, evening and morning tasks, sleeping arrangements and any separate daytime visits |
| Extended or continuous care | As agreed, usually your home for this request | Whether the sitter can leave, maximum absence, breaks, backup person and written scope |
| Home boarding or a boarding facility | The sitter’s home or another premises | Not the same service as a visitor caring for your pet in your home |
A schedule suitable for one healthy adult cat may not suit a puppy, senior animal, pet with separation difficulties or one needing timed medication. There is no universal visit count that this article can safely prescribe. Agree the plan with a capable sitter and, when health or behaviour makes the decision uncertain, your vet or appropriate specialist.
The distinction is real in Dubai: Paw Pals describes an 8pm–7am home stay and says daytime visits can be combined with it. Pawland separates drop-in visits, a sitter staying at your home and boarding at the sitter’s home. Do not let similar marketing labels replace an explicit address and timetable.
Dubai pet-sitting prices: dated examples with different scopes
The following published prices were checked on 19 October 2026. They are provider-specific examples, not market averages, Bestimate quotes, verified credentials or a promise of availability.
Read price and attendance together
| Provider-published example | Advertised charge | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| TEEF cat or dog sitting, 30-minute session | AED 50 | A short visit, not continuous care; confirm VAT and any location-specific terms |
| TEEF cat or dog sitting, 60-minute session | AED 79 | Extra visit time does not cover the hours after departure |
| Paw Pals standard sitting visit, minimum 30 minutes | AED 93, VAT included | A named provider’s visit offer; multiple-pet requests and extra requirements need confirmation |
| Paw Pals overnight home stay, 8pm–7am | AED 315 per night, VAT included | 11-hour attendance window; daytime visits and applicable additional fees are separate |
Ask whether the first meeting, key collection, holiday dates, travel outside the usual area, additional animals or specialist care change the price. A provider may include an introductory meeting while another charges for it. Do not assume a sitter’s professional experience or insurance covers every species, medication task or behaviour risk.
Build the full care schedule before comparing totals
Write your actual departure and return times, not just the number of nights away. If you leave at 8am and an overnight sitter starts at 8pm, the plan still has a 12-hour daytime gap. That is a timing calculation, not a statement that such a gap is suitable for your pet.
For each day, mark who is responsible for meals, water, litter or toilet breaks, exercise, medication if applicable, and checking the pet’s wellbeing. Agree what happens if your flight is delayed. If several people share care, make the handover and responsibility explicit and check that the provider permits the arrangement.
Calculate the written total as agreed visits × each visit rate + nights × overnight rate + agreed extras, with VAT applied only if not already included. Do not charge separately for a morning walk if the overnight quote already includes it. Conversely, do not treat an unpriced daytime visit as free. This schedule comparison is more useful than an automatic “cost per day” based on invented care assumptions.

The first meeting: pet compatibility and home access
Arrange a meeting before a longer absence whenever practical. Observe how the person approaches your pet and discuss handling boundaries without forcing contact. Explain hiding places, escape risks, reactions to other animals, feeding restrictions and any history of biting or scratching. Ask who will attend if the original sitter is ill, and how a replacement will be introduced.
For a Dubai apartment, agree concierge or security procedures, visitor registration if required, lift access and the correct entrance. For a villa, explain gates, internal doors and which areas must remain closed. Test the agreed access method before you leave. Never place keys, alarm codes, door codes or detailed travel dates in a public-facing request photo.
Leave a written care sheet, sufficient supplies, your contact details, a local backup contact and your usual vet’s details. Record who may authorise urgent veterinary care, how transport and payment will work, and where the carrier or lead is kept. Medication support needs specific instructions and a sitter who agrees they can perform the task; medical treatment is not automatically included in ordinary sitting.
What a comparable pet-sitting proposal should say
Use the same checklist for every response
| Field | Ask the sitter to confirm | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Attendance | Dates, arrival windows, minutes per visit or overnight hours, and allowed absences | Prevents “overnight” being mistaken for round-the-clock care |
| Routine | Meals, water, litter/toilet care, exercise, enrichment and required reports | Keeps the quote connected to your pet’s actual needs |
| People and backup | Named sitter, replacement arrangements and handover process | Avoids an unexplained change of carer |
| Access and emergencies | Secure key handling, building entry, vet authorisation and local backup | Makes the plan workable if something changes |
| Full price and terms | VAT, extra pets, key/meeting fees, holiday costs, cancellations and extension rates | Makes the total comparable without hidden assumptions |
A photograph after each visit can help you understand what happened, but it does not prove continuous attendance between visits. Ask what the update includes and how a missed visit or inability to enter will be escalated. For exercise-only support while you are otherwise at home, use dog walking; bathing and coat work belong to the separate mobile pet grooming guide.

Frequently asked questions
Does overnight pet sitting mean the sitter stays for 24 hours?
No. Overnight services often have a defined evening-to-morning window. Get the actual hours, daytime coverage and allowed absences in writing; continuous care needs explicit agreement.
Will my pet stay at my home or the sitter’s home?
In this guide, home pet sitting means your home. Providers may use “home boarding” for a stay at the sitter’s property, so confirm the address and service type rather than relying on the word “home”.
How many visits per day should I book for my cat or dog?
It depends on age, health, toilet and feeding needs, normal routine and tolerance of being alone. Discuss the schedule with the sitter and seek veterinary advice where necessary. Do not choose frequency solely from the cheapest daily total.
Can a sitter administer medication?
Some providers accept particular tasks, but it must be agreed beforehand with clear veterinary instructions and an appropriate person. Disclose the medication and timing; injections, monitoring or complex care may require a different level of support.
Is a meet-and-greet or key collection free?
Not universally. Ask whether the introduction, travel, key pickup and return are included, separately charged or unnecessary with your agreed secure-access method.
What if my return flight is delayed?
Agree an extension contact, backup carer and extra-visit or extra-night pricing before travel. Availability is not guaranteed, so an overnight booking should not rely on an unspecified extra day being covered.
