A car parking shade in Dubai should protect the vehicle without making the driveway difficult to use. The important purchase is a surveyed structure with workable parking clearance, suitable foundations and an agreed approval route—not just a sheet of fabric above a rectangle.

Quick answer: what should a parking shade cost?

Public supplier examples checked on 13 October 2026 start at AED 2,200 for an approximately 3 × 6 m single-car HDPE installation and AED 3,800 for an approximately 6 × 6 m two-car installation. Another Dubai installer advertises parking structures from AED 2,500, without a stated size. These are individual advertised starting points, not a market average or a ceiling on your quote.

  • Ask for the complete installed price, including foundations, paving repairs, approval administration and VAT status.
  • Confirm whether the parking is inside your plot or an external reserved bay before selecting a design.
  • Check the actual vehicles, opening doors, boot height, gate movement and pedestrian route on the proposed layout.
  • Specify sun protection or sun-and-rain protection; neither fabric colour nor a generic “heavy duty” label proves performance.

Advertised prices: compare the same installation scope

ShadeNets: two cars, approximately 6 × 6 mFrom AED 3,800 per installationStandard advertised layout, not confirmation that two particular cars fit comfortably on your plot. Tax and final site scope remain unconfirmed.

Do not convert a commercial bulk square-metre rate into a one-car villa budget: mobilisation, supports and foundations are not necessarily proportional to area. Your actual price depends on the surveyed design, access, ground conditions and written inclusions.

Compare complete parking-shade quotes

Use quoted amounts for the structure and canopy, additional foundation work, paving reinstatement, drainage, access equipment and approval charges. Mark an item as included when it is already in the package; adding it again inflates the comparison. Keep unknown costs visible, and show refundable security deposits separately from the installation expense.

Compare the same vehicle bays and usable clearance, not just a fabric area or canopy-only price. This tool calculates your written prices; it does not design a structure.

Open the full parking shade quote comparison. Unknown costs stay unresolved; no complete quote comparison appears until both quotes have the same confirmed scope. This tool uses your prices, not an automatic market estimate.

Illustrative arithmetic only: AED 4,000 whole-project supply and installation plus AED 700 separate paving reinstatement equals AED 4,700 before VAT, or AED 4,935 if both exclude 5%. Direct authority fees and refundable deposits are not included in this example.

Start with the parking bay, not the canopy dimensions

A nominal two-car canopy does not prove that a large SUV and a second vehicle can park underneath with their doors open. Ask the installer to mark proposed column positions on a measured layout and check them against how the driveway is actually used.

  • Arrival and turning: can both vehicles enter without repeatedly manoeuvring around a post or crossing the pedestrian route?
  • Doors and loading: can occupants get out, use a child seat or mobility aid, and load shopping without a support in the way?
  • Height: assess the highest relevant vehicle point, including an opening tailgate or fitted roof accessories. The fabric edge and frame matter, not just the tallest part of the canopy.
  • Gate and garage: check the full swing or travel of existing doors, motors and gates.
  • Useful shade: ask which parts of the car remain shaded at the times it is normally parked. A roof outline is not an all-day shadow.

A cantilever layout can move supports away from one side of the bay, but it is not automatically suitable for every site. The designer must assess the resulting structure and foundations. This guide and its comparison tool do not calculate column sizes, footing depths or wind resistance.

Inside the plot or an external reserved bay?

Resolve this before paying for custom fabrication. A space immediately outside a villa is not necessarily part of the private plot.

Parking locationFirst checkDo not assume
Within the villa plotOwnership or landlord permission, community requirements and any applicable authority approvals for the proposed workThat the external-parking checklist is the complete rulebook for private alterations
External reserved parkingThe applicable RTA NOC route, permitted design and affected utility/service-entity clearancesThat permission to park also permits a privately selected structure
Unallocated roadside or shared parkingWho controls the land and whether installation is eligible at allThat paying a contractor creates a right to install

The RTA's official external parking-shade checklist specifies reserved spaces, approved shape and colour, pedestrian clearance and protection of signs. It also identifies removal obligations where service entities require access. Obtain the current requirements for the precise location; do not transfer a neighbour's approval to your property. We do not quote a universal permit fee or promise approval.

If you prefer cream or ivory posts, request the permitted finish and a physical colour sample before manufacture. An attractive reference photograph is not evidence that a particular design or colour is approved. Record who submits drawings, who pays each charge, and what happens to payments if approval is refused.

Fabric, foundations and drainage: what to specify

Ask for a named fabric model and its data sheet, the steel protection and finish specification, and the designer responsible for structural suitability. A fabric warranty is different from a warranty for the frame, fixings or workmanship.

GALE Commercial's manufacturer guidance distinguishes breathable mesh, water-resistant and waterproof products. If keeping rain off the vehicle matters, specify the complete membrane, seams and runoff arrangement. A waterproof sheet does not stop wind-driven rain entering an open-sided carport, and a UV-protection percentage alone does not describe rain performance.

Quote itemDetail to obtain in writing
Excavation and foundationsSite/service checks, design responsibility, excavation, concrete, waste removal and any restrictions on working near buried infrastructure
Finished drivewayWho replaces cut interlock or tiles, with what matching allowance, and whether surface levels or drainage are affected
RainwaterWhere water leaves the canopy and goes next; no unresolved discharge onto access paths, equipment or neighbouring property
Programme and accessApproval, fabrication, foundation readiness, installation and when the bay can safely be used again
HandoverInspection and care instructions, weather limits, separate warranty terms and responsibility for future fabric replacement

Do not accept driveway paving as proof of an adequate foundation or excavate to discover what lies beneath. Keep water-tank access covers and service routes accessible. If the proposal changes paving, compare the separate work in the outdoor flooring guide. For garden seating rather than vehicles, use the shade sail installation guide.

Include paving reinstatement and drainage in the agreed scope. A finished appearance does not verify the concealed foundation design.

Send one useful brief to each installer

Provide the community, whether the bay is inside the plot, number and type of vehicles, approximate width and depth, gate arrangement, desired rain performance and preferred finish. Include ground-level photos of the full bay, entrance, surface and existing structures. Mark dimensions as provisional until surveyed.

Crop or blur number plates, faces, names, addresses, unit numbers, phone numbers, delivery labels, barcodes and serial labels. Put exact access and contact details in private booking fields. Ask providers to return the same itemised scope so an inexpensive incomplete quote is not mistaken for the best value.

Use Bestimate's parking shade service in Dubai to request responses for your proposed vehicle coverage and site conditions. Bestimate's service listing is not proof that a particular contractor holds an approval needed for your site; check relevant documents before proceeding.

Frequently asked questions

Is a parking shade priced per car or per square metre?

Both formats appear. Small residential jobs may have a whole-structure price; larger projects may use area. Compare the complete surveyed installation and its specification, not a unit rate taken from a different scale of project.

Can I put a shade outside my villa boundary?

Do not assume so. Establish who controls the bay and whether it is eligible for the external parking-shade approval route. Confirm the requirements before ordering, and keep pedestrian and utility access within the assessed design.

Can existing posts be reused with new fabric?

Only after the installer assesses their condition and suitability for the proposed membrane and loads. Replacement fabric does not prove that foundations, connections or the original layout remain suitable.

Will two advertised parking bays fit two SUVs?

Not necessarily. Review the actual vehicle dimensions, door-opening space, tailgate movement and post positions. Nominal bay count is a description, not a clearance assessment.

Does a parking shade keep the car completely dry or dust-free?

No open-sided structure can promise that. Rain performance depends on the chosen membrane and detailing; wind can still carry rain and dust through the sides. Specify the protection you need without treating a canopy as an enclosed garage.

What if the existing shade is leaning or has loose connections?

Keep people and vehicles away from the affected area and arrange professional assessment. Do not stand underneath, climb the frame or try to retension damaged fabric. Follow the installed system's weather instructions.
