Interlock paving uses individual blocks to form a driveway, path or courtyard. This guide is for choosing and specifying that system at a villa, including vehicle loading, levels, drainage and repair boundaries. If you are still deciding between porcelain, decking and paving, start with the broader outdoor flooring comparison.
New paving, releveling or replacement: define the job first
Wavex's current Dubai service covers villa driveways, paths and patios, with excavation, base preparation, edging and joint filling described. Apex separately advertises installation, releveling and individual-paver replacement. That distinction matters: a new-installation rate is not a reliable repair rate.
Choose a scope that addresses the condition
| Situation | Ask the contractor to assess | Keep separate |
|---|---|---|
| New driveway or enlarged paved area | Loads, excavation, base, finished levels, drainage and perimeter support. | Public footpath, road kerb and plot-boundary alterations. |
| One sunken or rocking section | Extent of failed support and whether sound blocks can be reused. | New blocks, concealed drainage faults and wider base reconstruction. |
| Cracked, chipped or mismatched blocks | Replacement quantity, available matching stock and why damage occurred. | A guaranteed exact colour match to weathered paving. |
| Water collecting beside the entrance | Levels, outlet route and drainage capacity before resurfacing. | Treating new pavers or sealant as a drainage repair. |
Dubai interlock prices: compare complete scope, not a blended average
The following advertisements were checked on 23 October 2026. They are indicative planning references, not quotes or Bestimate transaction averages. Their units and inclusions differ, so the figures should not be averaged together.
Published price references and their limits
| Source and scope | Advertised AED amount | What remains to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Revive Hub: budget / standard / premium interlock | 75–100 / 100–140 / 140–180 per m² | Sub-base and compaction named. Product specification, removal, kerbs, drainage alterations, minimum and VAT are not fully defined by this row. |
| Apex: new installation | From 75 per m² | Starting price; final scope follows site assessment. No advertised upper limit or clear VAT treatment. |
| Apex: small / medium repair job | From 800 up to 20 m² / from 1,500 for 20–60 m² | Job starting amounts, not rates to divide by area. Confirm the boundary at 20 m² and the actual repair. |
| Make My Garden: materials and installation listed separately | Materials 25–80 per m²; installation 15–30 per m² | Preparation and other inclusions are not sufficiently defined to treat their sum as a complete driveway price. VAT unspecified. |
Estimate a new-paving allowance by area and published tier
Select the approximate paved area and one of Revive Hub's published tiers. For example, 40 m² at its standard AED 100–140 per m² gives AED 4,000–5,600. This is simple area arithmetic from one provider's reference, not a forecast of the price every contractor will charge.
The tier names do not define a block thickness, brand or finish. Agree those separately. Small-job minimums, demolition, major ground correction, drainage, utility moves, access charges and VAT can change the total. The estimate is for new paving; use a site-specific repair quotation for a sunken section.

Specify the base and loads before choosing a pattern
Tell the installer whether the area carries only pedestrians, regular cars or heavier delivery vehicles. Ask for the proposed block product and thickness, supporting layers and compacted depths in writing. A decorative path specification should not be silently applied to a vehicle turning area.
The Concrete Masonry & Hardscapes Association's technical guide treats soil, base, bedding and loading as a system. It also distinguishes correcting the base from using extra bedding sand to conceal a depression. Use the contractor's site-specific design and the selected manufacturer's requirements, not a universal depth copied from an online guide.
Confirm how the paving is restrained at exposed edges, planting beds and changes of material. Ask what happens around inspection covers and whether those covers remain accessible. If ground conditions are uncertain, agree the inspection point and variation procedure before the new surface hides the work.

Check levels at the house, gate and drainage outlet
Walk the proposed route with the contractor. Mark door thresholds, garage entry, gate travel, existing drains and any low spot visible after rain. Ask for the finished levels and intended water route to be explained on the proposal. Standard block paving is not automatically a permeable drainage system simply because it has joints.
Do not solve a low driveway by raising everything without checking the entrance and gate. A changed surface can affect a swinging gate, sliding-gate track or vehicle clearance; the automatic-gate guide helps identify the adjoining work to coordinate. Utility covers, irrigation lines and drainage connections should be identified before excavation.
Ask community management which approvals, contractor entry rules, working hours and waste arrangements apply. Do not assume permission to change a public pavement or road kerb because the paving reaches your plot. Where paving is one part of planting and irrigation work, use a coordinated brief informed by the garden-landscaping guide.
What a comparable interlock quotation should contain
Make the hidden work visible
| Quote line | Written detail to request |
|---|---|
| Measured quantity and material | Installed m², product, thickness, colour, sample, laying pattern and treatment of cutting waste. |
| Removal and support | Existing surface removal, disposal, excavation, base materials, compacted depths and inspection before covering. |
| Edges and water | Kerbs/restraints, thresholds, falls, drains, cover adjustments and separately priced drainage alterations. |
| Completion and commercial terms | Joint filling, final checks, cleaning, parking restrictions, written defect terms, VAT and approval of extra work. |
Send a rough area sketch, wide photographs, close-ups of damaged sections and a description of vehicle use. State whether blocks should be reused or replaced. Crop or blur names, addresses, phone numbers, unit numbers, delivery labels, barcodes, serial labels, vehicle number plates and unrelated faces. Put exact access and contact details in private booking fields.
The outdoor flooring service is the relevant route for a paving-only enquiry. Specify interlock installation or lift-and-relay repair so the request is not mistaken for an indoor tiling job.

Frequently asked questions
How much does interlock paving cost per m² in Dubai?
Reviewed references include AED 75–180 per m² across one provider's installed tiers and another provider's starting price of AED 75 per m². Compare the base, removal, edges, drainage and VAT before using either as a project budget.
Do sinking pavers mean I need a new driveway?
Not necessarily. A contractor may be able to lift sound blocks, correct the affected support and relay them. The cause and extent need inspection; repeated settlement should not be hidden with a cosmetic patch.
Is a thicker block always enough for vehicle use?
No. The block, underlying support, edges, soil condition and traffic all form part of the design. Ask for a vehicle-appropriate system, not only a thickness upgrade.
Can new blocks match my existing paving?
Ask to see a sample beside the existing surface. Product availability, age and weathering can prevent an exact match. Agree whether a visible repair, a larger replacement panel or full resurfacing is acceptable.
Does interlock paving remove the need for drains?
No. The contractor must plan where water goes. A permeable pavement is a specifically designed system; ordinary sand-jointed paving should not be sold as one without supporting details.

No provider claims about project counts, guarantees or market leadership are adopted. Final materials, preparation, access, minimum charges and tax require a written site-specific quotation.
