The calculation, without invented rates
For each option: headline quote + separately charged visit + confirmed extras − confirmed visit credit = subtotal on your entered tax basis. If those prices exclude VAT, add 5% once. If VAT is already included or the provider confirms no VAT is charged, add nothing. The Federal Tax Authority states the standard UAE VAT rate. Keep every line in an option on the same tax basis.
A visit credit can never exceed the separately charged visit. If a quote is already net of a credit, do not subtract it again. “Included” prevents duplicate charges; “confirmed not needed” is different from an unpriced item. Unknown terms block a complete total and comparison, even when some amounts are entered. The optional actual amount paid reduces only the remaining balance, never the job cost.
Worked example: why a refunded visit is not a second saving
Illustrative arithmetic, not a market quotation: a repair quote of AED 350 plus an AED 99 visit, with that visit fully credited, remains AED 350 before VAT. At 5% VAT the job total is AED 367.50. If AED 103.95 has already been paid towards it, the remaining balance is AED 263.55. The total cost is still AED 367.50, not AED 263.55. Confirm that the provider’s invoice uses the same treatment before applying this example.
Market context is separate from the formula
Public pages checked on 16 September 2026 are scope-specific advertisements, not Bestimate transaction data. Quick Fix lists running-toilet repairs at AED 150–300 for exposed cisterns and AED 250–500 for concealed cisterns. Dubai Technical Works lists concealed flush repair at AED 250–550, with diagnosis, labour and consumables included but parts and major materials separate. A comparable all-in quote still needs the part and tax terms confirmed.
Mr Plumber advertises an AED 99 diagnostic visit credited when the repair proceeds; that is not the repair price. No advertisement is prefilled as your likely bill.
What “replace” must specify
Replacing a seal, an internal mechanism, a ceramic pan and an in-wall cistern/frame are not interchangeable scopes. Ask which existing parts remain, how the technician will access the work, and whether tiling, waterproofing, finishes and disposal are included. Geberit’s valve guidance explains that a faulty internal valve need not mean replacing an otherwise serviceable cistern. Compatibility and actual condition must be assessed; cost ratios do not establish remaining life.
Limits and safe next step
This tool cannot diagnose running water, price hidden wall damage or verify a replacement part. It compares one toilet or one explicitly defined job per option; it does not multiply one diagnosis fee across an entire property. Amounts are rounded to two decimal places, invalid inputs are rejected rather than silently capped, and a zero denominator never produces a percentage. Have a plumber confirm the fault and record testing, exclusions and warranty terms before authorising work.
