Tap & Mixer Replacement Dubai: Costs and Fitting Guide

This guide covers replacing an existing fixture while retaining the basic plumbing layout. Moving the water outlets, opening a tiled wall or rebuilding a vanity needs a separately assessed scope. A drip also does not automatically mean replacement: ask whether a compatible repair part would address the confirmed fault.

Dubai price examples: labour and supply are not interchangeable

A low labour price can be appropriate when you already have a compatible fixture and the connections are accessible. It cannot be compared directly with a supplied product of unknown specification. Ask providers to quote the same model or an agreed equivalent, and to identify separately any valve, hose, adapter or access work.

Compare your actual tap and mixer quotations

Enter the fixture count, whole-job or per-unit labour, and confirmed parts terms. Keep provider amounts on one VAT basis. Enter customer-bought parts at their final retail cost including VAT; the tool adds this after calculating provider VAT. A visit credit cannot exceed the separately added visit or eligible provider work; customer purchases are not eligible.

Identify the replacement before buying it

Use the exact model’s drawings and installation requirements. hansgrohe’s installation support directs users to product-specific dimensions, manuals and spare-part information. A similar finish or a description such as “universal mixer” is not enough to establish fit. Let the plumber confirm compatibility before a non-returnable purchase.

Repair the fault, or replace the fixture?

A sound mixer may have a replaceable component. hansgrohe’s faucet guidance identifies product-specific hose and cartridge/shut-off repairs and notes that restricted flow can have causes other than a failed complete tap. Those examples support asking for a diagnosis; they do not identify what is wrong with your installation.

• Request the reason for replacement: damaged body, unavailable compatible part, repeated failure with an identified cause, or your chosen upgrade.
• Compare the confirmed repair with a named replacement model, including fitting and any changed connections. Do not apply a universal age limit or repair-cost percentage.
• For weak flow at several outlets, ask whether the wider supply needs assessment. Replacing one tap is not a diagnosis of a building or villa pressure problem.
• For water under the sink, have the source identified. A supply hose, waste connection and tap body are different repairs; a new mixer does not automatically address them all.

Shattaf replacement: specify the whole water path

Tell the provider whether the symptom is at the trigger head, hose, connection or wall valve. A photo can show the arrangement, but it cannot prove the leak source or the suitability of hidden components. Request a model-appropriate installation, including assessment of the isolation and any required backflow protection; do not assume an adapter alone makes a new arrangement suitable.

What changes a small fitting job into a larger quote?

• Failed isolation: if a local valve will not operate, safe isolation may need building-management coordination or additional valve work. Do not force the valve.
• Restricted access: a deep basin, fixed drawer, stone top or packed sink cabinet can limit access. Agree any necessary dismantling and reinstatement in advance.
• Corroded or damaged connections: authorise additional work only after the technician explains the condition and revised price.
• Different layout: drilling a new hole, moving outlets or opening tiles is not a like-for-like fixture swap. Require a separate access and finish-restoration plan.
• Return visits: a missing fixing kit or incompatible customer-supplied tap can require another appointment. Ask who bears sourcing, return and repeat-visit charges.

In an apartment, check access passes, parking, work hours and whether isolation affects other homes. For a rented property, obtain the landlord or property manager’s approval for non-emergency changes under your agreement. A quantity-and-credit example, not a market estimate

Suppose your written quote lists two replacements at AED 150 labour each, AED 400 for the agreed fixtures and fittings, and a separately added AED 100 visit that is fully credited when you proceed. If every amount excludes VAT, the subtotal is (2 × 150) + 400 + 100 − 100 = AED 700. At 5% VAT the total is AED 735. If AED 150 actually covered the whole job, multiplying it by two would be wrong.

The standard UAE VAT rate is 5%. Confirm the actual invoice basis; do not add VAT again to inclusive prices or subtract a visit credit already applied in the quoted total. Customer-supplied fixtures remain your separate purchase cost even if the installer’s invoice contains only labour.

Send this brief and agree the handover

1. List each fixture and room, what is wrong or what you want changed, and whether you own the replacement. Share the product link or model privately before ordering.
2. Photograph the whole fixture and safely visible connections without dismantling anything. Crop or blur names, addresses, phone numbers, unit numbers, delivery labels, barcodes, serial labels and unrelated faces. Put contact and access details in private booking fields.
3. Ask for a count and written inclusions: removal, fitting, named parts, consumables, connection changes, leak/function testing, disposal, visit/credit, VAT and repeat-visit terms.
4. Require approval before drilling, wall opening or additional replacements. Confirm responsibility for product defects versus fitting workmanship and obtain the written terms, not an assumed warranty.

If water is actively escaping, stop using the fixture. Operate only an accessible, clearly identified isolation valve you already know how to use safely; do not force it, dismantle fittings under pressure or touch wet electrical equipment.
