How the price model works
Each option adds the quoted package, if selected, plus only separately priced extras. A per-fan price is multiplied by your fan count; a whole-job price is added once. In itemised mode there is no package: enter parts, labour and the other scope lines directly. Included or confirmed unnecessary lines contribute zero additional cost.
For ductwork, the optional calculation is contractor-measured total metres × quoted AED per metre. It does not infer a duct route from the bathroom size and does not multiply total metres by fan count. Money is rounded to two decimal places. Inputs outside the displayed limits are rejected rather than silently changed.
Diagnosis, credits and VAT
The diagnosis/call-out line is a whole-job cost, including a fee already paid when comparing the full project. A confirmed credit is subtracted once and cannot exceed a separately entered diagnosis fee. An included or waived visit has no separate fee to credit again.
Each option has its own VAT selection. The calculator adds 5% only to prices marked VAT-exclusive; inclusive prices are not taxed twice. Normalise mixed-tax invoices first. The Federal Tax Authority confirms the standard UAE VAT rate. Ask the supplier which treatment applies to its quote.
Missing scope is not zero
A blank price, unconfirmed extra or unknown tax treatment prevents an all-in result. The entered subtotal is not a budget ceiling. Only when both options are complete does the calculator show their difference. It does not recommend replacing a fan at an arbitrary percentage or forecast how long a repair will last.
If repair and replacement do not solve the same diagnosed fault, their totals are not comparable. Both may require duct repairs or shared-system work that has not yet been priced. Obtain a written variation approval process for defects discovered after safe professional access.
Why no price is filled in automatically
Advertisements use different units. Dubai Housekeeping lists bathroom extractor installation/replacement from AED 180, with replacement items bought by the customer. Handy Lads lists installation/repair at AED 149 per hour. Neither establishes a complete replacement price for your fan, duct or access condition. The article provides the full source context; the calculator uses your quotation instead.
Airflow conversion is not fan sizing
The optional converter uses 1 litre/second = 3.6 cubic metres/hour, derived from 1,000 litres per cubic metre and 3,600 seconds per hour. For example, 90 m³/h is 25 L/s. It does not apply a universal air-change rule, set a Dubai compliance target or predict flow through your duct.
Keep catalogue ratings and measured installed readings clearly identified. Soler & Palau's technical guidance explains why duct configuration matters to fan selection. Have the installer confirm the fan, controls, wet-area suitability and commissioning method for the actual system.
Safety and the right service route
Do not open wiring, ceiling access or the fan to obtain calculator inputs. Use contractor measurements and available paperwork. Stop using equipment with burning smells, tripping or water at electrical fittings and seek qualified help. In an apartment, coordinate common extraction or shaft problems with building management; a local fan replacement may not address them.
