What this calculator does—and does not do
It adds the prices you enter from two written quotations. Symptom selections provide a briefing prompt, not a fault diagnosis or automatic price. A trip associated with an appliance, water or several loads needs professional assessment; it does not prove that a breaker should be replaced.
Stop using affected equipment and seek urgent help for smoke, sparking, scorching, heat, shocks or water near electrics. Do not repeatedly reset a breaker or remove electrical covers to collect information. SCE's utility safety guidance warns against resetting repeated trips before the cause is corrected. For Dubai supply incidents, use DEWA Smart Response or 991; an internal fault may require a private maintenance provider and charges can apply.
The calculation, step by step
Diagnosis-only cost = visit and initial diagnosis + additional approved diagnosis. Enter extra diagnosis as a confirmed total or additional hours × the written hourly rate. Do not count time already covered by the visit fee twice. If you enter a maximum authorised time, the result describes that entered scenario, not guaranteed actual hours.
Proposed repair total = diagnosis cost + repair labour/package + parts + post-repair testing + access/making good + return visit/other extras − confirmed visit-fee credit. A full credit subtracts the visit fee only; a partial credit cannot exceed that fee. A credit already netted into a repair price must not be subtracted again. Package-covered lines add zero, but still require an explicit included selection.
VAT, unknown terms and rounding
All entries inside each quote must use the same VAT basis. The tool adds the standard UAE 5% VAT once only when you select exclusive amounts. Inclusive or supplier-confirmed no-VAT prices are not increased. Mixed-tax quotations need clarification before entry.
A blank or invalid value stays unknown, not zero. The diagnosis total can be complete before a repair is quoted. An overall repair comparison needs both complete totals and your confirmation of matching scope. Monetary products and totals are rounded to two decimal places. The AED 1,000,000 amount limit and 100-hour limit catch entry errors; neither describes a normal job.
Price context is not an automatic tariff
Public provider pages checked on 16 September 2026 describe different units: SKN gives a directional AED 150–300 call-out/safety-assessment band; Downtown Services advertises fault finding and repair from AED 349 per call-out. Neither number establishes the cost of your specific fault. This tool deliberately does not prefill a market rate or infer a repair from your symptoms.
What to compare beyond the total
Confirm the diagnostic allowance, fault explanation, exact proposed component, repair scope, post-work testing, no-fault-found charge, access, return visits and workmanship terms. Ask what changes if the observed fault cannot be reproduced during the visit. Do not choose a larger protective device merely to stop trips.
No quote data is sent by this calculation itself. If you later send photographs, crop or blur names, addresses, unit numbers, account details, serial labels and unrelated faces. Put contact and access details in private booking fields.
