Custom TV Units & Media Walls Dubai: A Practical Guide

Compare Dubai TV cabinetry and media-wall quotes by storage, materials, wiring, access and installation scope before approving a made-to-measure design.

Quick answer: A custom TV unit in Dubai can be a fitted storage cabinet or a complete media wall with panelling, lighting and concealed equipment. Compare drawings and inclusions, not only the wall width. Confirm who measures, manufactures, installs, mounts the screen and handles any electrical changes. There is no defensible single price per metre for all these different jobs.

A good TV wall solves a practical problem: where the screen, speakers, consoles, cables and everyday storage will go. A photograph can show the finish, but not whether a router will work behind a door, a receiver can ventilate or a damaged cable can be replaced later.

This guide focuses on made-to-measure residential cabinetry. For installing a television on an existing wall without new furniture, see the TV mounting guide. For broader wardrobes, shelves and joinery, use the custom carpentry guide.

TV cabinet, floating console or full media wall?

Dubai providers Joinery.ae and Grain & Gild describe cabinetry built around the actual wall and equipment, manufactured in a workshop and installed on site. Their advertised scope confirms local availability, not a standard specification shared by every carpenter.

Choose the scope before comparing quotes

OptionUseful whenConfirm separately
Floor-standing fitted cabinetYou mainly need equipment and closed storage.Skirting, levelling, door clearance and any required restraint.
Floating consoleYou want an open floor below the cabinet.Actual wall construction, loaded weight and a suitable fixing design.
Full-height media wallStorage, screen surround and decorative panels form one fitted installation.Access to power/data, equipment ventilation, removable panels and finish junctions.
Screen mounting onlyThe furniture and wall are already suitable.Bracket compatibility, mounting and cable route; this is not a joinery package.

What should a Dubai media-wall quote include?

Ask for an elevation showing overall width, height and depth, plus internal equipment spaces. A quotation based on a reference photograph should remain provisional until measurements and the wall have been checked. The same width can contain a simple console, multiple drawers, display shelves or a full surround; those are not equivalent prices.

Specify the substrate and finish rather than accepting “premium wood”. Ask which surfaces are laminate, painted board, veneer or solid timber, how exposed edges are finished and whether the approved sample will be retained. Confirm hinges, drawer runners, handles or push-to-open fittings and the intended load of each shelf.

Electrical coordination is another boundary. Vision Three describes coordinating power points and concealed cabling with its TV-wall work. Do not assume that a quotation from a different joinery workshop includes the same trade. Ask for any new socket, network point, lighting connection and making-good work as named items.

Agree the material and finish sample before approving fabrication, not from a photograph alone.

Plan around the actual screen and devices

  • Television: give the exact model, not just “65-inch”. Record whether it stays on its stand or uses a wall bracket, and allow a sensible plan for a future replacement.
  • Equipment: list the receiver, console, streaming box, router and soundbar, including their dimensions and connection requirements.
  • Access: agree how a technician can reach plugs and withdraw a device without destroying a finished panel. Photograph the accessible arrangement before it is enclosed.
  • Ventilation: require the installation to follow each device’s manual. There is no universal gap that can safely be copied across all televisions and AV products. Samsung’s installation guidance, for example, expressly addresses ventilation and mounting requirements.
  • Controls and connectivity: test remote operation, sound and network performance in the proposed arrangement; a solid cabinet door may change how a particular device can be controlled.

Do not use decorative panelling as proof that it can support a television or floating cupboard. The installer must assess the underlying construction and suitable fixings. Keep electrical work with an appropriately qualified contractor, and do not open sockets to investigate a cable route yourself.

Dubai apartment and villa access checks

Before fabrication, ask your building or community management about contractor access, permitted work hours, lift bookings and any approval needed for the actual work. A removable cabinet and a wall alteration are different proposals. Tenants should also obtain the landlord’s agreement where required by their tenancy arrangements; approval is not automatic because a contractor offers the service.

Confirm where cutting and finishing occur, how floors and nearby furniture will be protected, and whether the largest fabricated section can pass through the lift, door and corridor. Ask who removes packaging, old furniture and installation waste. If an existing wall finish must be removed or repaired, include it explicitly rather than assuming a carpenter’s price covers it.

Keep an unquoted item marked unknown; do not treat it as free. A deposit is part-payment, not an extra project cost. This guide does not publish a fabricated citywide media-wall rate or a calculator that predicts bespoke joinery from width alone.

What to send for a useful first quotation

Send a full-wall photo, approximate dimensions, the TV and device models, a list of storage needs, one or two reference designs and your preferred finish. Include property type, access restrictions and whether you own or rent. Keep sensitive addresses and entry codes in private booking fields. Ask the custom carpentry provider to confirm a site survey before approving fabrication.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a custom TV cabinet without a full wall renovation?

Yes. Dubai joinery providers advertise standalone fitted or floating TV cabinets as well as larger media walls. State that panelling, ceiling work and unrelated room renovation are outside your brief.

Is TV installation normally part of the cabinet price?

Do not assume so. Cabinet fitting, bracket supply, screen mounting and reconnecting devices are separate tasks. Have each one marked included or separately priced.

Can all the cables and equipment be hidden?

Often they can be concealed, but access, ventilation, controls and manufacturer instructions still matter. Ask for an equipment layout and a service route before the panels are made.

Should I compare media-wall quotes per metre?

Only when the quoted height, depth, storage layout, materials and installation scope genuinely match. A complete fixed project total with a shared specification is usually clearer than unrelated metre rates.

What should I check before accepting the finished work?

Compare the installation with the approved drawing and sample. Check doors and drawers, accessible connections, cable routes and agreed device operation with the installer. Record visible defects and the agreed resolution before signing off.
