Quick answer

Reviewed Dubai listings show shattaf installation from AED 69, while a separate supply-and-install package displays AED 210 for the selected option. They are not the same job. Confirm whether the quote covers the spray head, hose, holder, wall angle valve and testing; a leaking valve is not fixed by replacing only the hand spray.

A shattaf, hand spray or jet spray is a small fitting with several separately replaceable components. The most useful cost question is not simply 'How much is a new shattaf?' but 'Which component leaks, which parts are included, and is the existing shut-off arrangement sound?' This guide covers conventional cold-water hand sprays, not electric bidet seats or a new concealed hot/cold mixer.

Dubai advertised prices: installation is not a complete kit

Offers below were checked on 17 September 2026. They are indicative planning references, not quotes or Bestimate transaction averages. Provider options, materials, access and tax can change the total; verify the selected service at booking.

Advertised scopeAED referenceRead the boundary
Urban Company: jet-spray installationFrom 69Multiple options; confirm customer-supplied versus provider-supplied parts and tax. Relevant listings state AED 49 if service is not taken after inspection.
Urban Company: shattaf productFrom 39Product listing explicitly excludes installation; do not compare it with a fitted repair package.
Four Guys: selected replacement package210 displayedRemoval and supply/install of spray, hose and holder stated; angle-valve replacement and civil work excluded. Confirm brand option, tax and final terms.

Do not automatically add the lowest product and labour figures from different options or providers and present the sum as an available bundle. Ask for one confirmed parts-and-labour quote for your chosen fitting. If several bathrooms are involved, specify the components required in each, rather than assuming a per-piece advertisement includes a multi-room visit.

Head, hose, holder or angle valve: name the scope

Observed problemWhat the plumber should distinguishCommon quote omission
Drip at the spray headHead/trigger condition, connection and the product's intended shut-off use.Assuming a head-only replacement includes a new hose.
Leak at a hose end or along the hoseHose, washer/connection and compatibility with retained components.Retaining a visibly damaged or unsuitable hose without discussion.
Leak from the wall-side valveValve itself versus its connection; safe isolation and any concealed issue.A spray replacement package may explicitly exclude the angle valve.

Supply-and-install and fitting a customer-bought component are different quotations; compatibility still needs assessment.

Shattaf Replacement Quote Comparison

Use actual written provider quotes for the same assessed work. This comparison uses your entered prices; it is not a market estimate, a diagnosis or a promise of the final invoice. Keep unpriced or excluded work visible before comparing totals.

State whether the quote replaces the head only, head and hose, or the valve as well. Use a whole-job price when fixtures differ.

The trigger is not always the supply shut-off

Check the actual product instructions. For example, GROHE's listed trigger-spray model requires a shut-off valve and says it must not remain under constant pressure. That page is a product-specific instruction, not a recommendation to buy that discontinued model. Ask the installer to explain the correct after-use shut-off procedure for the product fitted in your bathroom.

If there is an active leak, stop using the fitting. Only operate a known, safely accessible dedicated shut-off if you can do so without forcing it; otherwise contact maintenance. Do not keep tightening an unfamiliar connection, replace a wall valve without isolation, or drill a wet-area tile simply because the holder looks loose. A trigger spray is not a substitute for a functioning service valve.

Before you buy the replacement set

  • Confirm the complete product and compatible hose, connections and holder. A chrome finish does not establish material quality or suitability.
  • Ask the plumber to check the existing valve and any necessary backflow-protection requirements for the installation; do not infer these from a generic shopping image.
  • Check reach and storage without leaving the spray resting in the toilet or dragging across the floor. Have the installer confirm placement rather than guessing a new fixing location.
  • Agree who supplies the parts and handles a product defect or a compatibility return. Customer-bought parts can save sourcing time, but an unsuitable set may require another visit.
  • For a rental, obtain the relevant permission before moving fittings, drilling or changing concealed plumbing. This guide does not decide maintenance-payment liability.

What a complete small-job quote should include

Request a line for each bathroom: retained parts, new head, hose, holder and valve if required. Add removal, fitting, agreed isolation, leak/function testing, cleanup and the treatment of old mounting holes. Confirm whether the visit minimum applies once or separately to additional tasks, how parts are approved, and whether the total includes VAT.

If a wall valve is seized or a hidden connection is damaged, the technician should pause and explain the revised scope before proceeding. A low advertised spray-fitting price should not become permission for unpriced tiling or pipework. Conversely, compare a head-only quote with a full-set quote only after adjusting their component lists—not simply by choosing the lower total.

Send a brief that prevents the wrong part arriving

  1. State the number of bathrooms and where the water appears: head, hose, wall valve or uncertain.
  2. Send one safely taken wide view and one visible connection view. Do not remove the hose or operate a leaking fitting for the photo.
  3. Say whether you already bought a replacement and provide the product specification through private booking details.
  4. Mention building access, parking and work-hour restrictions. Crop or blur names, addresses, unit numbers, invoices, serial labels and unrelated faces from images.

A separate running-toilet problem belongs in the cistern repair guide. For a basin or shower mixer, use the tap/mixer replacement guide; for unexplained dampness, use the bathroom leak investigation guide. Keeping those tasks separate makes a combined plumber visit easier to price.

Read the Plumbing Services in Dubai service overview before enquiring. Confirm that the provider accepts the precise repair or installation scope described here, then send the same brief when comparing quotes.

Frequently asked questions

How much does shattaf replacement cost in Dubai?

Reviewed listings include installation from AED 69 and a selected supply/install package at AED 210. Scope differs: confirm parts, valve work, tax and visit terms before comparing.

Does a replacement package include the angle valve?

Not automatically. The reviewed Four Guys package explicitly excludes it. Ask for a separate valve line if the leak is at the wall-side shut-off.

Can I keep the old hose with a new spray head?

Only if the installer confirms its condition and compatibility. A head-only repair is not equivalent to replacing a damaged complete set.

Should the shattaf supply valve be closed after use?

Follow the actual product instructions. Some trigger-spray manufacturers require shut-off after use and prohibit constant pressure. Ask the installer to demonstrate the correct procedure for your model.

Does fitting a new holder include repairing old tile holes?

Usually it must be specified separately rather than assumed. Agree fixing positions, retained holes and any wet-area reinstatement before drilling.

Can several shattafs be changed during one visit?

Ask for an itemised per-bathroom scope and confirm parts before attendance. One visit may be practical, but a discount, available stock or same-day completion is not guaranteed.
