Motorized curtains are an upgrade to the way a window covering moves, not necessarily a reason to buy new fabric. For a Dubai apartment or villa, the useful first question is whether your existing curtains, track and power arrangement can support the system you want. A motor that fits the opening but cannot move the fabric reliably is not a successful installation.

Compare the same curtain installation, not just a motor price

For tracks, motors and fitting, choose curtains and blinds and describe the exact motorised scope. Choose smart-home integration only for linking supported systems. Ask each provider to confirm relevant experience.

Quick answer: price the moving layers, not just the windows

  • Have the installer assess the track profile, curtain weight, opening direction and fixing surface before selecting a motor.
  • Identify whether you want a compatible retrofit driver, a new motorized track using your fabric, or new curtains and automation together.
  • List the sheer and blackout separately if both must move. Ask how many motors each proposed system needs.
  • Separate the motor and track from power work, fabric, controls and app integration. A low advertised starting price may not cover the finished window.

Motorized curtain prices in Dubai: what is actually included?

These public advertisements were checked on 14 October 2026. They are indicative provider references, not quotes or transaction averages. They use different inclusions, so we have not combined them into one market range.

Advertised referencePrice and unitWhat to clarify
Two Guys: motorised curtain starting offer for a 1.5 m wide × 3 m high openingFrom AED 350, plus trackTrack is explicitly extra. Obtain the exact motor, controls, fabric and installed total; do not read this as an all-in automation price.
Curtains Express: motorized track and motor componentsTrack AED 110–200 per metre; motor AED 700–1,600 eachMotor prices are described as fitted and programmed. Remotes, switches and hubs are extra; fabric and access requirements must be matched.

Compare complete installation quotes

Use the calculator to compare quotes for the same list of openings and moving layers. Enter whole-job amounts, then add only charges excluded from the quoted base. Keep an unknown power-work or hub charge unresolved rather than treating it as free. The result is arithmetic on your entries, not an installer quotation or a compatibility check.

Compare the same measured openings, retained or replaced fabric, motor and track system. A motor-only price is not a complete installed curtain quotation.

Open the full motorised curtain quote comparison. Unknown costs stay unresolved; no complete quote comparison appears until both quotes have the same confirmed scope. This tool uses your prices, not an automatic market estimate.

Illustrative arithmetic only: AED 2,000 agreed supply-and-fit package plus AED 500 separate electrical work equals AED 2,500 before VAT, or AED 2,625 when both exclude 5%. Package materials and fitting are not added again.

The FTA standard VAT rate is 5%; apply it only to provider-confirmed VAT-exclusive taxable amounts.

Can the curtains you already own be motorized?

Sometimes the fabric can stay while the track changes. In other cases, a compatible driver can operate an existing rail. The survey should distinguish those options instead of assuming that every manual track accepts a motor.

RoutePotential useCheck before accepting
Driver on an existing compatible rail or rodRetaining suitable fabric and hardwareExact rail profile, joints, curtain attachment, friction, load and charging access
New motorized track, existing curtainsFabric is usable but the original track is unsuitableHeading/glider compatibility, curtain drop after fitting, bracket support and motor clearance
New curtains and motorized trackChanging the fabric, heading or window coverage as wellA separate specification for fabric, lining, fullness, track, motor and controls

For example, Aqara's E1 guidance distinguishes rod and track versions, excludes telescopic rods and states that actual battery life depends on curtain weight, rail length and friction. These are model-specific limits, not rules for every brand. Photograph the actual rail; “standard curtain track” is not a sufficient specification.

If the existing curtains already snag, hang unevenly or pull loose from the ceiling, first investigate the mechanical problem. Our curtain track and rod repair guide covers that decision. A stronger motor is not a substitute for sound fixings and a suitable track.

Count the motors and leave room for the curtains to stack

Write an opening schedule: room, approximate track length, one-way or centre opening, sheer or blackout, and whether the fabric stays. One window with two independently moving layers is a different job from one layer. A track motor driving a centre-opening pair and separate retrofit drivers moving individual panels can also have different motor counts.

Ask the installer to mark the motor end, open-curtain stack positions and any curved sections on the drawing. Check clearance from balcony doors, wardrobes, ceiling vents and pelmet edges. The closed position must suit the overlap you need; the open position should not trap fabric against a door handle.

Somfy's Middle East selection guidance identifies curtain weight, size, opening direction, motor position and nearby power as selection factors. Request the exact motor and compatible track series, not just a brand name or a claim that it is “heavy duty”.

Wired or battery: decide around access and maintenance

A rechargeable system can avoid adding a mains connection at the window, but it still needs a suitable mounting arrangement and a practical way to charge it. In a double-height room, removing a battery pack may be a more important ownership issue than the advertised battery duration.

For a wired proposal, have a qualified electrician assess the supply and any new outlet or concealed wiring. Ask who coordinates that work, restores the ceiling or paint, and leaves the motor accessible for replacement. Do not conceal a connection or motor permanently inside a finished pelmet, or trail a charging lead through the curtain's moving path.

Before drilling or altering a rented home, confirm the owner's permission and the building's access and modification rules. Emaar Community Management, for example, directs residents to its home-modification guidelines and requires relevant contractor entry permits. Requirements depend on the community and actual work; battery-powered does not automatically mean permission-free.

Specify the control you expect to use every day

“Smart” can mean a remote, a wall button, a scheduled app routine or integration with other systems. Decide which you need before comparing prices. List your existing hub or control platform by model, and ask for written confirmation of the proposed combination's supported functions.

A basic remote-controlled installation does not need to become a whole-home project. If you want curtains to join lighting or AC scenes, use our smart-home integration guide for account ownership, compatibility and offline behaviour. Do not assume that a voice-assistant logo guarantees every scene or position-control feature.

Send providers a brief they can quote consistently

Send the opening schedule, overall window photos, a close-up of the rail and heading, approximate ceiling height, nearby power location and preferred control method. State whether both layers need automation and whether existing fabric must be retained. Ask for a site survey before a made-to-measure track is ordered.

Crop or blur names, addresses, phone numbers, unit numbers, delivery labels, barcodes, serial labels and unrelated faces in photos. Put contact and building-access details in private booking fields. For fabric selection rather than automation, see our Dubai curtain cost guide. Start with curtains and blinds providers and confirm that they install the exact motorized system you need.

Frequently asked questions

How much does motorized curtain installation cost in Dubai?

Public prices use different units and inclusions. The examples above include a starting offer with track extra and separate track-per-metre and motor prices. Request a total for your measured openings, moving layers, controls and power work instead of comparing the headlines alone.

Can I keep my existing curtains?

Possibly. The installer must check fabric weight, heading, drop and condition against the proposed track. Keeping the fabric does not guarantee that the existing track or brackets can stay.

Does a sheer and blackout window need two motors?

Independently moving layers need separately controlled mechanisms. The motor count depends on the chosen track or retrofit system and opening arrangement, so have the supplier list it per layer rather than per room.

Will the curtains work during a power or internet outage?

It depends on the motor, power source and control method. Ask for a demonstration of the specified fallback and written manufacturer guidance. Do not assume app schedules, remote operation and manual opening all behave the same way.

Is a battery motor always the best option for a rental?

No. It may avoid new mains wiring, but rail compatibility, mounting permission and safe charging access still matter. A high window with awkward battery access can be inconvenient even if no electrical alterations are needed.

Sources and review method

Reviewed 14 October 2026 by Bestimate Editorial Team. Provider advertisements above establish examples of scope and pricing, not endorsements or a transaction-based market average. Manufacturer sources support compatibility questions; community guidance is property-specific. Availability, taxes, specifications and written quotes should be reconfirmed before ordering.
